Japanese Export Yokohama Chisel Work Metal Pitcher Antique Hand Hammered

$333.29

This is a very tasteful old water jug, purchased years ago at an antique market. It was acquired with the explanation that it is an antique item over 100 years old. Intricate embossed decorations, handcrafted by artisans, are applied all over, giving it an overwhelming presence and elegance not found in modern products. The design with a handle and legs is very elegant, enhancing the quality of any space just by being displayed. Upon personal research for listing, it was found that this intricate grass and flower pattern embossing strongly resembles “Yokohama-bori,” which was exported from Japan to Europe during the Meiji era, and the designs of export silverware from that time. If so, it would be a very rare craft hammered out by artisans of the time, one strike at a time. It is a very rare masterpiece that combines European design with a handle and legs, and intricate Oriental carving, evoking a blend of Japanese spirit and Western learning. Its height is approximately 6.30 inches. Its width, including the handle, is approximately 5.31 inches. As an antique item that has passed through many years, it has overall darkening, scuffs, and internal dirt. Excessive cleaning has been deliberately avoided to preserve the deep, unique antique texture. As an old item purchased at an antique market, there are no official appraisal certificates to prove the exact age, origin, or purity of the material. No markings are found, so it is presented purely as an antique craft for appreciation.
