Johann Oertel Bohemian Glass Vase Hand Cut Violet Art Deco 1920s
This is a Bohemian glass vase made in a glass studio in North Bohemia in the 1920s. The design is by Johann Oertel, a work that is part of turn-of-the-century Vienna (early 1900s) and is also exhibited at the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. Vibrant violet potash glass is layered over transparent potash glass, and hand-cut by artisans, elevating this everyday item into an artistic masterpiece. Due to the unique light refraction of Bohemian glass, it is incredibly beautiful even without flowers. Although it is a work from approximately 100 years ago, there are no scratches, cracks, or chips. The height is 8.27 inches. The diameter is 5.91 inches.
