Satsuma Ware Gold Imari Style Vase Flower Arrangement Pot Double Lion Handles
This antique vase was purchased at an antique market and displayed. It is an Old Satsuma piece from the Meiji to Taisho period, featuring detailed export-style painting. This Satsuma ware is a “gold-decorated vase (flower vessel)” or a style known as Kinrande pot. It features beast-ear handles; on both sides of the neck, there are handles (twin ears) decorated with golden lion heads. The vase is characterized by Kinrande and gorgeous bird-and-flower paintings. The surface has a pale crackle pattern, with lavish decoration using abundant gold. Chrysanthemums are painted from the neck to the body, and at the bottom, a full-blooming cherry blossom avenue (sakura pattern) is vividly depicted with three-dimensional gold.
