
Shigaraki Ware Old Shigaraki Natural Glaze Jar Antique Japanese Pottery
This is an antique Koshigaraki natural glaze jar from the Momoyama to early Edo period. Natural glaze, formed from melted ash, flows down the shoulder, creating an appealing appearance. White granular feldspar and quartz sparkle, and fire blisters have formed crater-like depressions, along with stone explosions. About half of the rim is damaged and missing. There is one repair on the rim. There are small kiln flaws. There is a crack repair and a crack running from the center of the body towards the bottom, extending to the inner surface. There is a chip, a crack repair, and a crack at the bottom, extending to the inner surface. A water leak test has not been performed. There is a geta mark on the bottom. There are scratches and dirt. The jar has a mouth diameter of approximately 4.72 inches, a height of approximately 15.55 inches, and a bottom diameter of approximately 5.91 inches.
