Arabia Moreeni Flower Vase Esteri Tomula Brown Gold Tone Finland
This is a vintage vase from the “Moreeni” series, made by Arabia in Finland in the 1960s. It was designed by Esteri Tomula, a popular designer representing Arabia. The series name “Moreeni” means “till/moraine” in Finnish, referring to rocks and sand deposited by glaciers during the ice age. The vase features a mysterious pattern resembling the harsh Nordic nature, layers of the earth, and undulating strata, drawn with her characteristic delicate touch. While the Moreeni series also includes monochrome works with black patterns on a white background, this item is a very rare color version with a deep brown (gold-toned) painted under the silkscreen print, making it a limited production piece. It has a unique luster and a sense of gravitas, exuding an overwhelming presence just by being placed. Its unique shape, like a spool or a pillar, with widely flared top and bottom edges, is designed not only for flower arrangement but also for its beauty as an object. The size is φ5.12 inches x H4.72 inches.
