Riihimaen Lasi Tamara Aladin Kielo Vase Ruby Red Glass 1960s

This is a “Kielo” series vase designed by Tamara Aladin. “Kielo” means “lily of the valley” in Finnish. It was manufactured by the Finnish glassmaker Riihimäen Lasi from the 1960s to around 1970 in several forms. A characteristic feature is the bulging ring on the body of all forms. Among the Kielo series, the red (ruby red) is a collector's item that is rarely seen, as the production number was very small due to manufacturing costs and technical difficulties at the time. As you can see in the images, it is strikingly beautiful when light passes through it. Besides its practical use as a vase, it is an item to be enjoyed as an art piece, placed by a window where sunlight streams in. Approximately half of Riihimäen Lasi's vases from the 1960s were designed by Tamara Aladin. She is said to have released over 150 designs, and there are also anonymous designs, suggesting even more. The height is approximately 7.87 inches. The mouth diameter is approximately 2.76 inches. The bottom diameter is approximately 3.94 inches. It is in good vintage condition with no major damage. Please understand that as a vintage item passed down through many years, there may be minor scratches, scuffs, and slight signs of use other than what is shown. Glass imperfections (wrinkles), air bubbles during the production process, pottery support marks, pinholes, paint loss, or splatters are understood to have met the shipping standards of the time.
