Shiraoshi Fucho Echizen Ware Shioetsu Kiln Natural Ash Glaze Flower Vase No10
This is a vase, No:10, made by Echizen ware master Shiraoshi Fuasa (Shiokoshi Kiln). It features three prominent vertical line carvings on the body, reminiscent of sharp cuts made by a Japanese sword. The vase is covered in a beautiful ash glaze, showcasing the ultimate beauty of ash glaze reduction kiln changes. It embodies the traditional techniques of Echizen ware, such as “nejitate,” “wazumi formation,” “hagata-nobashi,” and “shinogi,” with bold chamfering, giving it a substantial weight, dynamic beauty, and rustic charm. The piece is made from Echizen pottery clay (“aoneba,” “akabeto,” “taikodo”), rich in iron, which fires to a reddish-brown color, creating a warm, simple texture. The unique textures of the Echizen pottery clay, including “ishi-haze” and “haikaburi,” are integrated with the “reduction kiln change beauty” and “natural ash glaze beauty” to create a fresh and captivating world. The vase has a mouth diameter of 2.56 inches, a body height of 7.72 inches, a body thickness of 6.69/6.89 inches, and a bottom long diameter of 6.50 inches. It comes in a shared box, but due to damage, it will be packaged in a craft box with bubble wrap.
