<p>Maker / Brand: Maeshima Goichiro Title of Work: Bizen Ware Vase by Traditional Craftsman Maeshima Goichiro with Original Box and Cloth</p> <p>This exquisite Bizen ware vase, or *tsubo*, is a creation by the late Maeshima Goichiro, a revered Traditional Craftsman (*Dentō Kōgeishi*). Accompanied by its original wooden box (*tomobako*) and protective cloth, it embodies the rustic beauty characteristic of Maeshima's work. Please note a kiln flaw (a dent from firing) on the rim. For water leakage prevention, internal sealant was applied to the base, and a gap near the neck from a 'stone burst' (*ishihaze*) was filled internally. The vase has been tested and confirmed watertight for 24 hours.</p> <p>Artistic & Cultural Background Bizen ware, from Okayama Prefecture, is one of Japan's ancient "Six Old Kilns" (*Rokko Yo*), with a history over a thousand years. Its unglazed, high-fired stoneware aesthetic comes entirely from the interaction of clay, fire, and ash, revealing the natural beauty of the clay. This often includes *goma* (sesame seed-like ash deposits) and *hidasuki* (scarlet streaks), highly prized in Japanese ceramics and tea ceremony.</p> <p>Design & Technique Maeshima Goichiro (1926-2007), a certified Traditional Craftsman, was deeply committed to Bizen clay's raw essence. His style emphasized hand-building (*himozukuri*) using mountain clay</p> <h3>Details</h3> <table style="border-collapse:collapse;width:100%"><tr><td style="padding:4px 12px 4px 0;font-weight:bold;white-space:nowrap">Condition</td><td style="padding:4px 0">As-Is</td></tr><tr><td style="padding:4px 12px 4px 0;font-weight:bold;white-space:nowrap">Origin</td><td style="padding:4px 0">Bizen, Okayama</td></tr><tr><td style="padding:4px 12px 4px 0;font-weight:bold;white-space:nowrap">Material</td><td style="padding:4px 0">Ceramic</td></tr><tr><td style="padding:4px 12px 4px 0;font-weight:bold;white-space:nowrap">Era</td><td style="padding:4px 0">Unknown</td></tr><tr><td style="padding:4px 12px 4px 0;font-weight:bold;white-space:nowrap">Dimensions</td><td style="padding:4px 0">高さ:18.7cm / 径:17.4cm / サイズ】</td></tr><tr><td style="padding:4px 12px 4px 0;font-weight:bold;white-space:nowrap">Weight</td><td style="padding:4px 0">重量:1.8kg</td></tr></table>
