Bizen Ware Matsui Yoriyuki Kiln Change Flower Vase - 3

Bizen Ware Matsui Yoriyuki Kiln Change Flower Vase

$207.84

This work is by Bizen ware artist Mr. Matsui Yoyuki, who is a holder of Okayama Prefecture's Important Intangible Cultural Property. He was born in Kumamoto Prefecture and was invited to Bizen by the governor in 1960, where he served at the Bizen Center before becoming independent in 1973, creating flower vases and tea utensils. This piece is from before he became a holder of the prefectural important intangible cultural property. It is a powerful work with excellent kiln changes, “bota” marks, ash glaze, “zan-giri” cuts, and two ears on the flower vase, making it splendid from every angle. It is rare to find a work of this caliber. This was a collection item of my antique teacher. The box was fortunately tattered and water-stained during a fire, but the work itself remained perfectly intact. Currently, the box has some dirt. This piece is believed to be from Mr. Matsui's younger days. The size of the exhibited work is approximately 9.96 inches in height, 9.45 inches in width, and has a mouth diameter of about 4.02 inches. The work itself has no damage inside the box.
