This is an elegant gourd-shaped Hagi ware flower vase made by Notomi Choun of the Ohkazan Choun Kiln, a renowned Hagi ware kiln. The upper half features a plump and warm white Hagi glaze, while the lower half has a subdued glaze that utilizes the strong earthy texture, expressing a beautiful contrast of yin and yang within a single piece. The spreading gourd (hyotan) is an auspicious design, symbolizing warding off evil and prosperity since ancient times. It comes with a signed wooden box and a bookmark from the artist, and is in very beautiful condition with no noticeable scratches or dirt. This is an elegant gourd-shaped Hagi ware flower vase by Ohkazan Choun Kiln and Notomi Choun.
