Murata Hajime Mashiko Ware Square Vase Flower Holder With Tomobako
This is an extremely rare “Kakubin” (square bottle) by Hajime Murata, a master craftsman representing modern Mashiko ware and a renowned disciple of Living National Treasure Shoji Hamada. His works are characterized by a unique beauty of utility and sophisticated modernity coexisting with the profound strength inherited from his master. This piece features beautifully defined edges on all four sides, and the distinctive glaze expression creates a wonderful presence. It is a valuable vintage art piece coveted by collectors, as the number available in the market decreases each year. The artist is Hajime Murata (1904-1988 / Mashiko Town, Tochigi Prefecture). The work is a Kakubin. Its size is approximately 8.66 inches in height x 5.12 inches in width. It includes a tomobako (original wooden box). The main body is a long-term storage item, but there are no chips, cracks, or noticeable repairs (nuu), making it in extremely good, beautiful condition. The tomobako shows some age-related discoloration and scuffs, but the handwritten calligraphy remains clear and does not detract from its collection value.
