Funaki Michitada White Glaze Willow Motif Hiratsubo Vase Flower Vase
This is a white glazed willow pattern flat jar/vase by Michitada Funaki. The vase features an elegant willow pattern drawn on a white glazed ground, beautifully harmonizing the soft, rounded jar shape with an impromptu yet restrained linear composition. The technique for the pattern is close to what is known as "dorogaki" (mud drawing), unique to the Funaki kiln, where soft slip or glaze is dripped, poured, or drawn onto a white-slipped body, merging lines and blurring to create a fluctuating beauty similar to suminagashi. A signed wooden box by Michitada Funaki is included. The height is approximately 8.54 inches, providing a substantial presence. The condition is good with no noticeable flaws.
