Imai Masayuki Shino Ware Inlaid Gardenia Flower Vase Urasenke Calligraphy
This is a wonderful inlaid Shino gardenia vase by master craftsman Masayuki Imai. The inside of the lid has an inscription by Hounsai, the 15th generation head of Urasenke, stating “Picture Shino Flower Vase,” completing it as a tea ceremony utensil. The gardenia flowers are faintly visible through the Shino glaze, creating a very elegant aesthetic. Masayuki Imai's kiln was named “Hozan Kiln” by Hounsai, so the work and inscription are very compatible. There are “Ho” and “Masayuki” seals on the bottom of the flower vase. Works with the “Ho” seal from Hozan Kiln are considered superior. There are no scratches or repairs, and the condition is very good (believed to be unused). The height is 7.09 inches and the width is 4.13 inches.
