Imari Ware Bakumatsu Meiji Period Iroe Dragon Phoenix Chrysanthemum Oval Bowl - 2

Imari Ware Bakumatsu Meiji Period Iroe Dragon Phoenix Chrysanthemum Oval Bowl

$182.55

This is an oval-shaped polychrome bowl, believed to be from the late Edo to Meiji period. It features vibrant depictions of dragons, phoenixes, and peony motifs using red and gold enamels on a deep blue underglaze. The undulating chrysanthemum shape and nested, elegant form are also striking. Various patterns appear depending on the angle, allowing you to fully appreciate the delicate painting by artisans of that time. Despite its presence, the calm color scheme based on blue, red, and white makes it suitable as a decorative bowl or confectionery dish, as well as an accent for a tokonoma or display shelf. The elegant design combining dragons, phoenixes, and chrysanthemums is rare. An antique box is included. The dimensions are: Large: 12.99 inches x 9.45 inches x 3.54 inches, Medium: 10.24 inches x 8.27 inches x 3.15 inches, Small: 8.46 inches x 6.50 inches x 2.56 inches. As this is an old item, it may show signs of age such as rubbing, dirt, kiln flaws, and fading of the polychrome and gold. Please examine the photos carefully and only consider if you understand the characteristics of antique and ancient art pieces. It is a tasteful masterpiece with brilliant auspicious patterns and a unique vessel shape.
