This is an old Tamba jar, fired around the Momoyama period. It has a beautiful reddish-brown clay body, characteristic of Tamba ware, with a translucent green natural glaze flowing over it, strongly reminiscent of old Tamba. The natural glaze stands out beautifully against the reddish-brown body. Faint “Nekogaki” (cat scratch) marks, a technique unique to old Tamba, are applied around the entire body. Based on the beaded rim and the faint “Nekogaki” marks, it is presumed not to date back to the Muromachi period. The balance of the natural glaze is excellent, and the adhesion marks on the body serve as a good accent, making this a very impressive jar. As shown in the images, a crack extends around the lower part of the body, and there are traces of repair to prevent water leakage from it. It did not feel like the crack reached the inside of the jar. Other minor scratches consistent with its age are present. The height is approximately 14.17 inches, and the diameter is approximately 10.24 inches.
