Sakaida Kakiemon Arita Ware Imari Ware Porcelain Vase Bird Flower Motif
This is a porcelain vase, an Imari ware/Arita ware piece, likely from the 12th or 13th generation Sakaida Kakiemon, a Living National Treasure. The vase features a sometsuke (underglaze blue) and iro-e (overglaze enamel) design of birds and flowers. It does not come with a box. The vase has been occasionally displayed for several decades. The interior has fine potter's wheel marks, typical of old Kakiemon pieces. There are no significant scratches, but there is one mark directly above the mouth rim, which is biscuit-colored, and it is unclear if it's a kiln flaw or a later scratch. Additionally, there are two tiny scratches on the side of the mouth rim, smaller than a pinprick and barely noticeable to the touch, and two spots of glaze from the painting process on the neck below the mouth rim. Otherwise, there are no particular concerns, including dirt. The approximate height is 8.
