
Bizen Ware Shigenobu Shigenobu Flower Vase Pottery Traditional Craftsman
This Bizen ware is by Shuen Shibaoka. It comes with a shared box. This piece has a stately presence. It is approximately 30 years old. The maximum diameter is about 10.04 inches. The height is about 11.42 inches. The mouth diameter is about 4.92 inches. Shuen Shibaoka was born in 1948, the second son of Kōzan, the second generation of Shibaoka Tōsendō Bizen ware kiln. He graduated from Tokai University's Faculty of Engineering in 1972. In 1974, he returned to Bizen and began pottery under the guidance of his father Kōzan and elder brother Masashi. He was first selected for the 17th Japan Traditional Craft Eastern Chugoku Branch Exhibition. In 1985, he became independent from Tōsendō after ten years of training and built his own kiln in Ōnishi, Imbe, firing his first kiln. He was selected for the 2nd Tanabe Museum Tea Ceremony Art Exhibition.
